The ostentatiously titled Cath Coombs & the Awesome Soul Collective cheerfully prove that covers bands don't have to sound uninspiring. Led by the stunning vocals of the irrepressible Cath Coombs, the Soul Collective serve up a passionate set of well-known and less well-known soul covers, drawing heavily on the Aretha Franklin repertoire, but also branching into funk and blues when appropriate. This is soul with genuine soul - no spangly waistcoats required!
The Soul Collective is available as anything from a 5-piece to an 8-piece, consisting of lead vocal, 2 backing vocals, sax, keys, guitar, bass and drums at full strength.
